Audio sequencing

Main content

Our Lead Creative Technologist Julien de-Sainte-Croix recently abstracted a component of an audio sequencer he's working on called a 'scene', which describes a configuration of audio clips one might associate with a soundscape. Now, being able to maintain more than one of these scenes means that the sequencer becomes sort of a meta-soundscape — a configuration of soundscapes, instead of clips.

In this demo, Julien has prepared two scenes: one scene with a simple drum-loop routed at first to one, then two channels; and another scene with two distinct layers, an atmospheric clip, and some spoken word. He manually toggles between these scenes in this demo, and says the next step would be to automate the process based on the appropriate rules — an external input, the time of day, a scheduler, the completion of another scene.
